Welcome to the Timebank Plus March Newsletter
With Spring and the start of the growing season finally here, we invite you to join us on our beautiful Community Allotment at Bath City Farm. Our volunteers have been busy levelling the site and are currently in the process of building a raised bed. Anyone interested in growing their own produce or helping with further site improvements will be most welcome to join us.
‘Art for Wellbeing’ is another new opportunity we are offering, with support from Wellbeing Courses. We are co-ordinating two 3-week courses, starting in early April. You can sign up for one or both of the courses, which will take place on Tuesdays from 1 – 3pm. There is a charge of £12 per course, or you may be eligible for a voucher via Social Prescribing. You will need to register online, on the following link: Art for Wellbeing | Wellbeing Courses
Here are some more groups and projects you may like to get involved with this month:
Timebank Gardening Team, Tuesdays 10.00 to 12.30
The Timebank Gardening Team go out each Tuesday morning from 10.00 to 12.30 to help Timebank members who are in need of gardening assistance. Training and supervision are provided by the Gardening Team Leader, Jennifer. The Gardening Team members work at their own pace alongside others, doing basic garden jobs. It’s an opportunity to learn new skills and meet other people whilst doing something useful and worthwhile in the local community.
FeelGood Walks, Tuesdays 12:30 to 1:30
FeelGood Walks are a great opportunity to get out in nature, explore our local green spaces, meet other people and get a bit fitter. These walks are suitable for people of all levels of fitness and we will make sure that we go at a pace which is comfortable for you. Well behaved dogs are welcome on the walks. We leave from the Timebank centre at 86 High St, Twerton at 12.30 prompt. Contact us for further info or just turn up and join us.
‘Borrow It’ Library of Things, open Tues & Weds 10 – 4, Thurs 10 – 12.30
Our ‘Borrow It’ Library of Things offers a unique chance to access occasional-use items free of charge. We have a wide range of gardening equipment, DIY tools, home maintenance items, gear for events, catering equipment, musical instruments and more.
We have been busy checking, updating, repairing and expanding our stock of equipment in accordance with what people would most like to borrow and we are pretty confident that anything you borrow will be in good working order. Creative Writing for Everyone, Thursdays 10:00 to 11:00 (online via Zoom)
The Creative Writing Group is a small, friendly group of people who meet up online each week to practise and improve our creative writing skills. Some of us have never written before and others are more experienced. Our aim is for these sessions to be fun and to unleash our creative flow. Each week we do a short writing exercise during the session and then take a look at short stories or poems which members of the group have posted up during the week.
If you are interested in joining the group, please email us for the Zoom link and the link to the Writing Forum.
Bath Guitar Group, Thursdays 10:30 to 12.00
The guitar sessions are a lot of fun, with a good size group and guidance from Nick, the facilitator. Anyone who is able to play a short list of simple chords is able to join and there are occasional opportunities to perform. Music is emailed to members via Dropbox, so that you have the opportunity to print it out and practise at home. For more information about this group, please email timebankplus@gmail.com or call the office on 01225 442813.
In addition to the groups and projects listed above, we are still able to offer use of our centre free of charge to local community-based groups of up to about 8 people who would like to use our venue for a meeting or activity, when it is not already in use. Please get in touch if this is of interest and we can discuss your needs.
As a Timebank, we encourage our participants to offer their time & skills to others, as and when it’s possible for them to do so.
