Welcome to the Timebank Plus November Newsletter
We are very excited in the busy lead up to our first Community Taster Day on Saturday 14th November at Southdown Methodist Church from 10.30 to 3.30. It looks to be an amazing day, filled with activity workshops plus refreshments and a buffet lunch. Everything is free of charge and everyone (over the age of 14*) is welcome to come along. (*Young people aged 14 – 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult).
Many of the workshops will include the possibility of joining an ongoing group or activity if people wish to do so. Booking in advance is recommended, in order to secure a place at your preferred workshops, however it is also fine to just turn up. Volunteer help on the day is urgently needed – please let us know if you are able to help out, even for just an hour or two. See below for full details of the workshop programme.
In addition to the Community Taster Day, we are continuing to offer our full programme of groups and projects, plus a new Crafts Group which will run on Tuesday afternoons as from 17th November.
'Borrow It’ Library of Things, open Tues & Weds 10 – 4, Thurs 10 – 1
Our ‘Borrow It’ Library of Things offers a unique opportunity to access occasional-use items free of charge. We have a wide range of DIY tools, home maintenance equipment, gardening gear, equipment for events, catering utensils, musical instruments and more.
With winter coming, you may be interested in borrowing our soup maker, the slow cooker or a garden shredder. We also have a dehumidifier and a heater available. If you are planning a party you may like to reserve our urn or a chocolate fountain. Everything has been checked and is repaired as and when needed. Everything has been donated by local people and can be borrowed free of charge. What better way to save money, reduce the need for storage space and help reduce waste?

Twerton Lunch Club, Wednesdays 11.30 to 2.00
Our very friendly and welcoming lunch club meets every Wednesday from 11.30 – 2.00 in Twerton. It costs just £6 for a delicious, freshly cooked 2-course meal. We have a varied programme of activities, including quizzes, games, speakers, music, raffles and more. We also celebrate seasonal festivals such as Xmas with special meals and entertainment. Transport may be available for anyone in the local area who is unable to make their own way to the venue. Digital Drop-In, Thursdays 10.00 to 12.30
The Digital Drop-In sessions are a great chance to get help and advice with all sorts of digital issues on your phone, iPad or laptop. Whether it is setting up WhatsApp, bookmarking favourite websites, changing providers, setting up online payments or sorting out tricky phone problems, Nicky and our expert volunteers will be able to offer guidance and support.
If you’ve got a digital issue, pop into the Timebank any time between 10am and 12.30pm on a Thursday and we’ll do our very best to help.
Timebank Gardening Team, Tuesdays 10.30 to 1.00
The Gardening Team is a lovely, friendly group of people who go out each Tuesday morning from approx. 10.30 to 1pm to help Timebank people who are in need of gardening assistance.
No previous experience is needed and you work at your own pace, with as much rest as you need and refreshments provided. Training and support are on hand. We are looking for more people to join the gardening team, so please do consider giving it a go, you will receive a warm welcome. To join us or to request help with your garden, please get in touch.
FeelGood Walks, Tuesdays 12:30 to 1:30
FeelGood Walks offer a chance to get out in nature, explore our local green spaces, meet other people and get a bit fitter. These walks are suitable for people of all levels of fitness and we will make sure that we go at a pace which is comfortable for you. Well behaved dogs are welcome on the walks. We leave from the Timebank centre at 86 High St, Twerton at 12.30 prompt. Contact us for further info or just turn up and join us.
Timebank Crafts Group, Tuesdays 2.30 to 4.00, starting 17th November,
This small, friendly crafts group led by Emma will begin on the afternoon of Tuesday 17th November, meeting at the Timebank centre at 2.30pm. Everything is free of charge. Come along to share enthusiasm and skill in some simple, fun, nature inspired crafts.
Creative Writing for Everyone, Thursdays 10:00 to 11:00 (online via Zoom)
The Creative Writing Group is a small, friendly group of people who meet up online each week to practise and improve our creative writing skills. Some of us have never written before and others are more experienced. Our aim is for these sessions to be fun and to unleash our creative flow. Each week we do a short writing exercise during the session and then take a look at short stories or poems which members of the group have posted up during the week.

Timebank Community Allotment, Tuesday afternoons & other times
Timebank Allotment members have created a wonderful space at our Bath City Farm plot, with raised beds and level paths. We’ll continue caring for the plants and soil on Tuesday afternoons, with our final group session of 2026 taking place on 10th November, 2.30 to 4pm.
Participants can continue to grow produce at our shared plot through the winter too. We'd really appreciate any vegetable seeds that people can share with us, if you have any to spare. We’d love more people to join us. To get involved in the allotment and group, please get in touch.
Bath Guitar Group, Thursdays 10.30 to 12.00
The guitar sessions are a lot of fun, with a good size group and guidance from Nick, the facilitator. Anyone who is able to play a short list of simple chords is able to join and there are occasional opportunities to perform. Music is emailed to members via Dropbox, so that you have the opportunity to print it out and practise at home. Community Sharing Space
In addition to the groups and projects listed above, we are also able to offer use of our centre free of charge to local community-based groups of up to about 8 people who would like to use our venue for a meeting or activity, when it is not already in use. Please get in touch if this is of interest, and we can discuss your needs.

As a Timebank, we encourage our participants to offer their time & skills to others, as and when it’s possible for them to do so.
People are currently needed for the following projects:
- Volunteers needed to help out at the Community Taster Day on 14th November. We need help with setting up and clearing away, serving refreshments, signposting people and helping on the door. You can help for an hour or two and still attend the workshops.
- We would love to hear from people interested in joining the planned Crafts Group
- We welcome anyone who enjoys gardening to our Tuesday Gardening group
- Anyone who likes walking – please join us on our friendly Tuesday ambles
- Volunteer needed to help clean the Time Bank centre once a fortnight
- Practical person needed to do small repairs and occasional redecoration at the Timebank centre
