We had a great launch to the Out in Nature project on 21st May in Pennyquick Park. The weather was fantastic and we had around 20 young people and 10 adults attending the session.
To start with we made some real lemonade in the 'Pennyquick parlour' - so called by one of our young chefs!
Then we practised using the spark sticks to light cotton wool, before lighting a fire in the fire wok. We had some lovely toasted marshmallows using sticks we cut from a fallen down cherry branch. One mum said:
This is great for my daughter to be learning about how to make safe fire, I think she will learn a lot from today
Then to end the session Matt from the Avon Wildlife Trust helped everyone make some bird boxes and showed us all his collection of bird skulls!
The next session is on 4th June from 4-6.30pm and we will meet near the basketball court in Pennyquick park. Come and join us for more outdoor cookery and conservation. Under 18yrs and families with younger children welcome.
