Here’s some truly exciting news! We’ve been working with Bath City Football Club to arrange a community showing of Ken Loach’s new film – ‘I, Daniel Blake’. It’s a fantastic film, which won the Palme D’Or for best film at Cannes Film Festival this year, and what’s more, Ken Loach will be coming along himself to answer your questions after the showing. The screening will take place on Thursday 8th December at 7pm and will be at Randall’s Bar, Twerton Park (BA2 1DB).
Tickets will be priced at £2 for people on benefits or a low income. Others will pay £10 or £20 for a ‘solidarity’ ticket. Tickets are available from the Time Bank office, or they can also be bought from the Football Club or the Little Theatre. They can also be booked and paid for online through Eventbrite at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/community-screening-of-i-daniel-blake-and-qa-with-director-ken-loach-tickets-29332359878
We expect that tickets will sell out fast, so please book yours as soon as possible. If you fail to get a ticket let us know, as we will be keeping a waiting list. You could also try just turning up on the night, in case of last minute cancellations.
The film tells the story of 2 ordinary people - a carpenter who has become disabled following a heart attack, and a single mum with 2 young children - and their struggles with the welfare system in Britain today.
